You guys! I just have to share with you one of my latest Amazon purchases. I’m not getting paid to talk about these, nor am I getting anything for free. I’m telling you about them because they truly changed my life for the better! I don’t use the word hate too often, but I used to hate packing lunches every day – mostly because I forgot to do it until after I was settled on the couch for the evening. I pack lunches in the evening because I do ANYTHING I can to minimize the things that have to be done in the morning. I have our mornings down to a science and anything extra just throws us off. I’ve got no time for that!
Ella’s typical lunch is either a PB&J or pepperoni and crackers with cut up bell peppers, some sort of fresh fruit, and yogurt. She’s very predictable and apparently doesn’t get tired fo eating the same things over and over again. When I was making her lunches before, I would use four Ziplock bags a day! That’s embarrassing. I tried separate containers, but they don’t make lunch boxes that hold several containers at a time. Not only did I know this wasn’t great, it was simply annoying. After a year and a half of packing lunch like this, I began to look for a solution.
A quick search on Amazon lead me to these fabulous containers. These were exactly what I was looking for. I got 15 containers with lids for $15.95. These were the qualities that caught my eye: multiple sealed compartments, reusable, and relatively small in size. When they came, they were a bit larger than I had expected and we had to make a change in Ella’s lunch box, but it has made packing lunches such a breeze. They were also a bit more flimsy than I had hoped, but for the price and the convenience, I’m fine with having to replace them in a year or so if necessary.
All parts of her lunch fit in here nicely, and the only other things in her lunchbox are her reusable water bottle and the yogurt. When we get home in the evenings, I usually pack her lunch quickly in the same container while I’m making dinner and in the kitchen anyway.
I’m only packing one lunch now because Callie is currently at an in-home daycare which provides all her meals. Next year, I’ll have two lunches to pack and I’m not dreading it at all. If you too are teetering between wanting to pack fresh, non-prepackaged foods, but don’t want to go through 100 Ziplock bags a month, give these a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Until next time…
